Day description

Day Day 1

Arrival in Iceland and an evening in Reykjavík

Reykjavik, solfur, island

Transfer will be waiting for you upon arrival to take you to Reykjavík, where you will have a free evening to explore at your leisure.

If the weather is good and you feel like a bit of fresh air after your travels, we recommend taking a walk or bike ride along the seafront. The Eidis route is a popular stretch that offers great views of the presidential residence Bessastadir and Mount Keilir with its characteristic tips. Another popular route goes along Saebraut, where you can enjoy great views of Mount Esja to the north and central Reykjavík to the south. If you’re lucky enough to be here on a clear winter’s night, then you may even catch a glimpse of the spectacular northern lights. They can be seen more clearly when you are a good bit away from the glow of the city.

After your walk, why not charge your batteries for tomorrow’s excursion, perhaps with a hearty meal in one of the city’s luxury restaurants? Ask us if you want any tips on the best places to eat!

Day Day 2

The Golden Circle

geysir, gyllene cirkeln, island

Explore some of the natural wonders Iceland has to offer. We travel to the mighty waterfall Gullfoss, by many described as the most beautiful in Iceland. Nearby we also get to enjoy the Strokkuk Geysir, which erupts every 5-8 minutes, throwing mighty cascades of water into the air. On our way back to Reykjavík we stop at Þingvellir national park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is where the first European parliament was formed in 930, as well as being the meeting point of the European and North American continental plates.

Day Day 3

Free time and the Blue Lagoon in the afternoon

The Blue Lagoon

Enjoy a morning breakfast at your hotel to start off the day. In the morning you will be free to do whatever you like. Spend some time in Reykjavík exploring the city or go on an excursion in the local area. If you decide to stay in Reykjavík then a visit to Hallgrímskirkja Church is a must. From its high position in central Reykjavík, this unique church can be seen from all over the city and the surrounding areas. With its 70 metre tower, this church is the tallest building in Iceland.

If you prefer to get out into nature or do a shorter activity many of Icelands highlights are close at hand. We recommend whale watching from Reykjavik harbour or a shorter riding tour with an Icelandic horse, or why not take a trip down the depths of a dormant volcano?

After a day of adventures, you can spend a relaxing evening in the fabled Blue Lagoon – an oasis in the middle of a lava field. Pick-up is at 14:30 and takes around 50 minutes from Reykjavík. The Blue Lagoon is an outdoor pool with water that comes directly from geothermal sources as deep as 2000 metres and which maintains a constant and comfortable temperature of 36–39° all year round. The site also boasts an indoor lagoon and a geothermal sauna. If you want, you can book a short massage treatment to really round things off perfectly before returning to your hotel feeling totally reinvigorated both inside and out.

Day Day 4

Own activites/departure

Whale

If you have chosen a three-night trip then you will be travelling home today. You will be picked up at your hotel in good time before the departure time of your flight.

If you have chosen to extend your trip then today will be another exciting day to make your own discoveries. If you spent yesterday in the spa or around the town, then perhaps you might be tempted by a little more adventure today – or why not start the day with a spot of whale watching? Reykjavík is the departure point for lots of whale watching tours with daily departures. The best time for this activity is from June to August but the excursion is popular all year round. We promise you there’s nothing like the special feeling you get watching these magnificent giants of the ocean up close.

Another option for today is to head out on a glacier hike. From Reykjavík you can either hire a car and drive yourself or you can join a tour and head out for a hike on the glacier tongue of Solheimajökull. In addition to an exciting hike with mighty views and deep ice fissures to explore, the route also offers up black lava beaches, dramatic mountain peaks and some of the most impressive waterfalls in the country. Check the bottom of this page for a list of optional activities and excursions that we recommended especially for this trip.

Day Day 5

Own activites/departure

Horse

If you have chosen a four-night trip then you will be travelling home today. You will be picked up at your hotel in connection to your departure.

If you have chosen to extend your trip even further then today will be yet another day of adventure and discovery on the fantastic island of Iceland. How about seizing the opportunity to do something that many people only dream of – namely a horseback tour atop some gorgeous Icelandic horses! From Reykjavík you have a wide variety of great riding tours offering pick-up from the city. Choose from short and simple rides to longer and more demanding routes for experienced riders.

Or if you’d prefer to swap the horse for something with even more horsepower, why not head out on a Super Jeep Safari to round off the trip on your last day before returning home? Check the bottom of this page for a list of optional activities and excursions that we recommended especially for this trip.

Day Day 6

Departure

Today it is time to go home even for those of you who have opted for five nights in Iceland.  You will be picked up at your hotel in good time before the departure time of your flight.

Optional

Here are some of the optional extras you can select for this particular trip. We’ve hand-picked these activities for you to choose from so that you can make sure your trip is perfectly suited to you and your company. You’ll find everything from high-octane adventures through to more tranquil excursions. Take a closer look at the options you are most interested in and then add your selections when booking.
