Information about rental cars
Traveling around Iceland in a rental car is one of the best ways to experience the country. It offers impressive views and spectacular scenery. Driving in Iceland is not difficult but can still be a bit of a challenge. Your rental car is delivered through one of our partners; Avis, Europcar or Rás. We have chosen to work with these suppliers because they have good cars and good service.

Prices
Our prices include free miles and deductible (CDW). Free miles means that no extra fees are added per mileage. The self-reduction rate varies between car rental companies and car types. Please see the respective car type for detailed information. Note that the deductible (CDW) does not cover all damages, such as damage to the car's undercarriage. All car rental companies offer extra deductible (SCDW) which significantly reduces the excess. You can purchase this insurance when you pick up the car in Iceland.

Car types
Only car type can be booked, not car brand/model. The car brands/models that we present are intended for illustration only, but are representative of each car type. For those of you planning to drive in the Icelandic highlands, we can offer a total of 16 different car types. These are marked with HL (highland).

Trips to the highlands require a car that is approved for driving on F-marked roads as well as the Icelandic highlands.

Booking policy
All rental cars are booked per day, i.e. if you pick up the car at 17:00, you must return the car at 17:00 on return day. Otherwise an extra day’s rent will be added, which is paid on site to the rental car company.

All tenants must have a valid driver's license for at least one year, and the driver must also provide a credit card as a guarantee when the car is picked up. The minimum age for hiring a car differs between the different car rental companies and car type. Please see the respective car type for detailed information.

Late arrivals to Iceland
The motorhome extradition closes at 18:30. If you arrive later than that, a fee of 200 euros will be charged for getting you the car.
