Day description

Day 1

Welcome to Iceland and the Blue Lagoon!

blå lagunen, island

Fight time to Iceland is three hours. A shuttle bus will take you for a revitalising dip in the Blue Lagoon, giving you an unforgettable start to your Christmas getaway with a transfer time of approximately 20 minutes. The Blue Lagoon is an outdoor pool that gets its water directly from geothermal sources as deep as 2000 metres under ground and with water that retains a pleasant temperature of 36–39° all year round.

Once you are all warmed up we will then head on into the capital to check in at your hotel. In the evening you will enjoy a dinner together with your colleagues at one of Reykjavík’s many restaurants before heading out to explore and enjoy the city’s famous night life.

Day 2

Icelandic Christmas Dinner at Restaurant Reykjavík

restaurang, reykjavik, vinter, jul, island

The day is free for you to explore Reykjavík. In the evening, you will take a short walk to Restaurant Reykjavík which is located right in the centre. There you will find a delicious spread brimming with Christmas fare from Iceland and around the world. The food consists of traditional Icelandic Christmas dishes such as lamb and fish as well as both American and Scandinavian Christmas classics. Icelandic restaurants and Icelandic cuisine in general are known for their excellent quality and the majority of the ingredients are exclusively from the local area.

After dinner we suggest that you take the opportunity to spend some quality time with your colleagues. Relax in a cosy pub or dance the night away on a buzzing dance floor. There are plenty of options in Reykjavík and you are sure to find something to suit every taste.

Day 3

The Golden Circle

gullfoss, island, vinter

Head out with your colleagues into some of Iceland’s most incredible and popular sights. You will be picked up from your hotel for a trip to the Gullfoss waterfall and to the most active geyser in the country, Strokkur. With its regular eruptions every five minutes, you will have several chances to experience the majestic cascade of water that is thrown up into the sky each time the geyser goes off. You can wander around the bubbling mud pools and the steaming hot springs, feeling the inner power of the earth right beneath your feet.

Close by, you will also visit the impressive Gullfoss waterfall which is generally considered to be the most beautiful in all the country. The waterfall has two steps and visitors can get up close to its mighty rushing waters as they hurtle over the cliff and down into a ravine.

Day 4

Return Journey

You will be picked up by a shuttle bus at your hotel in good time before the departure time of your flight.

Northern Lights

The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are a spectacular multi –coloured natural phenomenon that often dances across the Arctic sky. On this trip we leave the lights of the city behind to go into the countryside to hunt for the Northern Lights. The destination for the trip varies according to weather conditions and the most favourable conditions for seeing the lights.

Northern lights are caused by particles from the sun being flung out into the space, so called solar winds and clouds. These clouds assemble near the poles and when these clouds of electromagnetic particles collide with the gasses in the Earths atmosphere, the mystical lights of the Aurora Borealis are created. Particular weather conditions lend themselves to spotting Northern Lights more easily, usually on very clear, calm and cold evenings. The excursion will not run if the weather does not permit.

HORSEBACK TRIPS ON ICELANDIC HORSES

The Icelandic horse is unique thanks to a ban on the import of horses that has applied in Iceland since the 1100s. It is a reliable partner that will take you across the Icelandic terrain and through its stunning natural environment no matter the season or weather conditions. A horseback trip can be enjoyed as part of a broader programme or as an excursion on its own, for just a few hours or over the course of a day, in close proximity to Reykjavík or around larger parts of the island. The trips traverse mountainous slopes, steep cliff faces, desolate lava fields and magnificent ravines. The horses are allocated to match rider experience and we make sure that all participants receive the equipment and instructions they need for the trip.
