Hotel Borg is located right in the part of Reykjavík that most people consider to be the best. The hotel was built between 1928–1930 by Jóhannes Jósefsson, who was a well-known wrestler and adventurer. Jósefsson competed in the Olympic Games in 1908 and travelled to America with the Barnum & Baileys Circus, before then returning to Iceland in 1927 with the dream of building a luxury hotel worthy of international dignitaries. And he certainly succeeded, as Hotel Borg simply exudes 1920s luxury with its classic Art Deco style.

The hotel has a spa and a fitness centre with a hot tub, sauna and steam room. The restaurant is designed to combine Italian flair with the hotel’s style and has become well known for its oval-shaped ceiling mural which creates a truly unique atmosphere.
